End of Summer Car Care

It’s pretty common that most drivers drive more during the summer months than any other time during the year. Kids are out of school and trips to the beach and road trips are common. Summer can put your car through the ringer so don’t forget to take care of your vehicle at the end of the season.

The extra mileage and wear and tear on your car during the warmer summer can make your car tired and worn. There area few things that you can do to help get your car back in prime condition:

Check Your Tires
Check your tire pressure often to make sure you’re within the range that your specific tire manufacturer has suggested. Proper tire pressure can have a drastic effect on the wear and tear on the rest of your vehicle. Also, if you haven’t done so recently, get your tires rotated.

Check Your Car’s Battery
The warm summer temperatures can cause your battery fluid to evaporate faster than it would in colder months. If your battery doesn’t have enough fluid it can begin to corrode and eventually fail. Check for leaks or cracks around the battery and clear away any rust or corrosion around the connection points.

Wash Your Car
Pay special attention to the undercarriage of your vehicle. Clear away any buildup of dirt or grime as it can hold in heat and cause your car’s cooling system to have to work double time.

Lastly, take your car in for a tuneup before the rainy and snowy weather starts up. Be prepared for the months ahead and treat your car with care.
